Vocation Discernment is a time in which a person prays and meditates towards making an informed decision about her vocation response. These discussions provide an opportunity to learn about religious life as you search God’s will for you. It will give you time to listen to the Word of God and to listen to yourself as you discern the plan the Lord has for you. Our sessions are typically in English but we also conduct some sessions in Spanish.

Pope Francis, Address to
Seminarians and Novices, July 6, 2013
Pope Francis reminds us that discovering one’s vocation to single life, marriage, or religious life and making the decision to embrace it takes courage. In his message for the World Day of Prayer for Vocations in May 2020, he said, “All it takes to discover one’s vocation is to open one’s heart to God’s love and open one’s eyes to the signs of where God already is working.”

The Aspirancy is a period of formation during which a candidate, who becomes an ‘Aspirant’, commits to seriously discern her calling as religious sister in the community of the Sister Servants of the Blessed Sacrament. The candidate explores God’s call and personal response through a program of self-knowledge and prayer. She also increases her knowledge of the SJS community as a possible option to live out her religious vocation.
